Bright and colorful with a powerful play of colors and at the same time in a mystical and peaceful atmosphere, leave the old year behind and start the new year in style - this is what the Mountain New Year's Eve in Innsbruck invites you to do under the motto "Harmony of Opposites" from 29.12.2023 to 6.1.2024. The program is complemented by a big children's New Year's Eve party on 30 December from 14:00 in the old town and on the forecourt of the Hofburg, as well as a New Year's Eve with live musical acts and fireworks on the Seegrube.

Harmony of contrasts

At the turn of the year, the city presents itself in the best light, figuratively speaking, and promises a unique fusion of contrasts. The program on offer, ranging from calm and mystical to colourful and powerful, shows that a combination of opposites creates something special. The 3D façade mapping brings color to the winter landscape of the state capital with gaudy effects and exciting motifs. At the same time, mystical light installations will bathe the alleyways in the old town and the Inn Bridge and Waltherpark in a calm and contemplative ambience.

Immerse yourself in an imaginative and colorful world - the Tyrolean mountain and natural world reimagined

From 29.12.2023 to 6.1.2024, the Hofburg, the Hofkirche, St. Jakob's Cathedral and the famous row of houses in Mariahilf will become a spectacular backdrop for extraordinary visual and sound worlds using 3D façade mapping from 5 pm (until 11 pm, from 1.1. 5 pm - 10 pm). Embedded in the imposing backdrop of Nordkette, Innsbruck's vibrant diversity and unique flair are revealed in every corner of the city. The supposed contrast between "alpine" and "urban" is brought to the façades - urban speed and dynamism combined with alpine deceleration.

Mystical light installations for the Raunächte nights

Based on the mysticism and tradition of the Raunächte, artistically designed light elements alongside the colorful riot of colors on the facades invite you to pause and reflect on the past year. The Raunächte mark the special time between the years. According to belief, the laws of nature are suspended on these days and the gates to the underworld are wide open so that the spirits come among the people and sweep the old year out of the houses to make room for the new. Inspired by this, various light and shadow effects, interactive projections and illuminated gates take visitors on a mystical walk through the historic alleyways of the old town(Stiftgasse and Schlossergasse) and across the Inn Bridge into Waltherpark. These light installations are designed by a local artists' collective. Also on display from 29.12.-6.1. from 5 pm.

The youngest guests celebrate the New Year at the "New Year's Eve Circus"

Younger guests can welcome in the New Year a day early. From 2 p.m. on December 30, the picturesque streets and alleyways of the old town will be the scene of celebrations, games, dancing and laughter. Under the motto "New Year's Eve Circus", an extraordinary and varied program awaits the young visitors. From Punch and Judy shows and puppet shows, games and craft stations, hands-on circus, to cool music that invites you to dance along. As a special highlight, a spectacular closing show will take place on the large stage on the forecourt of the Hofburg at 5:30 pm to say goodbye to the old year in the best possible way. The young local band "Funky Monkey" will provide the best musical program, while the dance troupe from Innsbruck's Street Motion Studio will transform the stage into a dance floor. The old town gastronomy invites young visitors to enjoy free refreshments at various stands in the old town.

Celebrating the new year 2024

On New Year's Eve, a stroll through the city will be accompanied by music to get you in the mood for the new year. From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., you can look forward to a variety of sounds in front of the Golden Roof.

Those who want to start the New Year in a sporty way have the opportunity to run through the city center from 4:15 p. m. into the New Year with big steps.

From 9 pm, the BOUNCE Bon Jovi tribute band and DJ In-Style will provide a rousing atmosphere on the forecourt of the Hofburg. Drei Catering stands will provide visitors with drinks. Accompanied by a spectacular fireworks display on the Seegrube, it's time to say Happy New Year 2024 at midnight! The start of the New Year can be celebrated well into the night. Immediately afterwards, Congress Innsbruck invites you to SILVESTER BEATS, the big indoor New Year's Eve clubbing event between the historic arches of the Dogana. Tickets are available here.

Free public transport on New Year's Eve

In order to get all visitors home safely on New Year's Eve, public transport throughout Tyrol will be free of charge between 20:00 and 05:00 on the night of 31.12.2023 and 01.01.2024, including IVB city transport (with the exception of "The Sightseer").
